Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has said Peter Jackson - the director of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies - is "serious" about directing an episode of the BBC1 sci-fi show. That is, as long as he gets to keep a Dalek.
Speaking to Frank Skinner at the Ad Lib event in Edinburgh where RadioTimes.com was reporting late last night, Moffat said: "He’s serious about it. I was at the Hobbit premiere and he just wants a Dalek."
"That’s what he wants," he continued. "We give him a Dalek and then he’ll direct an episode."
Sounds like a pretty good deal to us... And we can see why Jackson is so keen to get his hands on one of the iconic Doctor Who foes. Daleks are pretty cool. In fact, we wouldn't mind one ourselves. It would fit right in at RadioTimes.com towers. Just in case you've got a few extra knocking around, Mr Moffat...
Moffat also revealed that if Peter Jackson were to get behind the camera for an episode of Doctor Who, chances are it would be in New Zealand - an around the world journey which Moffat said was "entirely possible".
Watch this (adventure in time and) space.
