Barrichello winds up Mugello test in style
Rubens Barrichello completed his third and final day of testing at Mugello on Monday, bringing to a close his maiden session in the new Ferrari F2004. After two days of damp conditions, the Brazilian finally got to experience the car on a totally dry track.
With sunshine and track temperatures of up to 20 degrees Celsius, Barrichello completed 74 laps of the Italian circuit (including nine on its short layout), as he continued development of the F2004, setting a best time of 1m 18.704s - a new unofficial lap record for Mugello.
The time compared favourably with the 1m 21.270s he set after 72 laps on a damp track on Sunday, and the 1m 26.823s he recorded on Saturday during 56 laps on full-wet tyres. Development testing of the F2004 will continue on Tuesday at the Fiorano circuit, with Michael Schumacher driving.
