Manches, the lawyers representing the Tolkien Estate have won a suit against file sharing website ESnips for having high quality PDFs of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion available for download. The website complied with taking the files offline but will now be forced to hand over information on the users who uploaded the files. The article states Manches will be contacting the users who posted the material and "politely and firmly" ask them to stop. It is nice to see the lawyers are not all brutal animals as they go on to state "[m]any of the people are simply fans of the work and don't realize they are doing anything wrong."
