Ahá eu SABIA: Tolkien LIGOU a Legenda Arthuriana ao Legendarium da Terra-Média:

Most surprising bit? The explicit linkage of his Arthur story with the legendarium. Didn't expect that as all. Next, that in Guinevere he's produced what I think must be his least sympathetic female character. That should make for some interesting discussions. As should CT's guess at the reason for its abandonment: developments in the mythos, such as the creation of the Numenorean story and The World Made Round drew his attention away from this rewarding but deeply labor-intensive project.

Suspeito mesmo que parte do background de Brumas de Avalon da Marion Zimmer Bradley derivou de questionamentos feito esses aí embaixo, até porque ela começou a carreira literária dela escrevendo fanfics no universo do SdA e a mitologia de Tolkien até nessa de ser uma "mitologia pra Inglaterra" teria que ser, em certa medida, uma espécie de "prequel" pra legenda arthuriana, quer Tolkien admitisse isso ou não.

Já era pressagiado por esse comentário nos Newsgroups do David Salo falando do pedaço de comentário do Tolkien, convenientemente CORTADO da carta 131 na edição original das Cartas, IGUALANDO Avalon e Avalónnë nas entrelinhas.

Avalon and the voyages of Frodo, Bilbo, Sam and Gimli to Tol Eressea - *as
if* they were part of the same mythology, or could be part of the same
mythology; i.e., _if_ we were to put King Arthur into the universe of

Considerando o preço salgadíssimo da edição nacional do Silmarillion vamos esperar e ver... sem muitas expectativas. Se não me engano, até que a edição nacional do Sigurd e Gudrun não ficou tão absurda em termos de preço assim.
