Vamos fazer uma brincadeira aqui?
Seguinte: vamos voltar no tempo até 1977. Guerra nas Estrelas acabou de ser lançado nos cinemas, não se chamava nem Uma Nova Esperança ainda (esse nome só apareceu em 1979).
Então, que tal reimaginarmos como seria a galáxia muito, muito distante, utilizando apenas as informações fornecidas no primeiro filme?
Pegando no tranco então:
Darth Vader não é o pai do Luke Skywalker. Darth Vader é um jedi que foi corrompido pelo Lado Negro (Darth é um nome próprio, como o Obi-Wan chama ele na Estrela da Morte), que traiu e matou o pai do Luke (que também era um jedi).
Darth Vader, Obi-wan Kenobi e o pai de Luke Skywalker lutaram lado a lado nas Guerras Clônicas.
O tio Owen e a tia Beeru têm medo de Obi-wan Kenobi porque não compreendem a natureza da Força.
Luke e Léia não são irmãos.
Obi-wan era um alto oficial nas Guerras Clônicas, que foi mais do que uma simples guerra contra clones de um caçador de recompensas (imagino o Obi-wan lutando contra 5 clones dele mesmo, enquanto um sexto se infiltrou entre os mocinhos para espionagem). E mais: haviam clones dos dois lados da guerra.
Ou talvez nem haviam clones, talvez fosse uma guerra que se estendeu artificialmente através da utilização de clones para suprir a demanda de tropas.
Grand Moff Tarkin é o cabeça do Império, sendo que o Imperador é apenas uma marionete e Darth Vader é tipo um samurai que o serve (isso fica presumido quando a Léia olha pro Tarkin e fala "só podia ser você conduzindo Vader pela coleira).
Após descobrir que não é o último jedi, Darth Vader inicia uma cruzada à caça de jedis em potencial escondidos nos confins da galáxia.
Não existem siths, bruxas de Dathomir, nem nada do tipo. Os jedi são como samurai, ligados a um senhor por um voto de obediência. Obi-wan seria o jedi do governador de Alderaan, pai de Léia, e Darth Vader seria o jedi do Grand Moff Tarkin. O treinamento marcial e o uso da Força é a única coisa que os une.
Os jedi são mais do que um grupo de samurai, são religiosos que cultuam e fazem rituais para a Força (várias vezes os jedi são referidos como religiosos no filme).
Jabba é um humanóide.
A Força só dá um leve poder psíquico e telecinético aos jedi, não os torna magos que lançam raios.
O que podemos desenvolver a partir disso?
Podemos usar também o prólogo do livro do Guerra nas Estrelas:
Another galaxy, another time.
The Old Republic was the Republic of legend, greater than distance or time. No need to note where it was or whence it came, only to know that... it was the Republic.
Once, under the wise rule of the Senate and the protection of the Jedi Knights, the Republic throve and grew. But as often happens when wealth and power pass beyond the admirable and attain the awesome, then appear those evil ones who have greed to match.
So it was with the Republic at its height. Like the greatest of trees, able to withstand any external attack, the Republic rotted from within though the danger was not visible from outside.
Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic. He promised to reunite the disaffected among the people and to restore the remembered glory of the Republic.
Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor, shutting himself away from the populace. Soon he was controlled by the very assistants and boot-lickers he had appointed to high office, and the cries of the people for justice did not reach his ears.
Having exterminated through treachery and deception the Jedi Knights, guardians of justice in the galaxy, the Imperial governors and bureaucrats prepared to institute a reign of terror among the disheartened worlds of the galaxy. Many used the imperial forces and the name of the increasingly isolated Emperor to further their own personal ambitions.
But a small number of systems rebelled at these new outrages. Declaring themselves opposed to the New Order they began the great battle to restore the Old Republic.
From the beginning they were vastly outnumbered by the systems held in thrall by the Emperor. In those first dark days it seemed certain the bright flame of resistance would be extinguished before it could cast the light of new truth across a galaxy of oppressed and beaten peoples...
