Saudações!
Eu havia visto os filmes, e não me "apaixonei" pela mitologia. Nem mesmo quando li os livros me entusiamei dessa forma (deve ter gente pensando em me banir...), embora gostasse enquanto estória.
Mesmo antes de ler o Silmarillion, eu encarava como uma mitologia, que sempre foi um de meus interesses (com exceção de egípcia).
Mas o entusiasmo mesmo foi quando li "Tree and Leaf", aí sim, me identifiquei inteiramente com as idéias de Tolkien a respeito das estórias, a sub-criação, a imersão do leitor/ouvinte no universo; algumas que eu já tinha, e outras que eram conclusões de idéias que eu tinha, mas ainda não havia chegado a elas. Não houve nada em que discordasse dele.
O trecho a seguir é o que mais me chamou a atenção (Ok, eu sei que não é do Tree and Leaf...):

perceptions that begot them, and from the multiplication of them in many minds – and

primary world.”
